Programs Alternative Energy Sources Technology

About

While our dependence on energy is increasing in modern life, the need to become aware of the damage we cause to the environment and turn to environmentally friendly and cleaner energy sources is increasing day by day. Another issue that is at least as important is that it is not known that savings worth billions of dollars can be made every year through measures to be taken in various fields and efficient energy use, and that a significant contribution can be made to the security of supply in Turkey, which has a great external dependence in terms of primary energy resources. It is known that energy is one of the important components of economic and social development and plays a vital role in raising living standards. Another well-known fact is that sustainable development is possible with a continuous and quality energy supply.

In our country, it is aimed to train responsible, duty-aware manpower who will take part in the use of alternative energy sources and energy efficiency in the public and private sectors.

Our country has rich potential in terms of renewable energy resources: Hydraulic resources potential is 35000 MW (135 Billion kWh/year electricity production), wind energy potential is 48000 MW (130 Billion kWh/year electricity), geothermal potential is 31500 MW (600 MW of this potential is electricity). suitable for production), biomass is 8.8 MTEP (1.3 Billion kWh/year-electricity) and solar energy is 80 MTEP (380 Billion kWh/year-electricity). Of the total electricity production of 210.18 Billion kWh in 2010, 24.5% was met by hydraulic, 1.35% by wind and 0.47% by geothermal resources.

The fact that Çanakkale province and its surroundings have an important value especially in the Turkish Wind Atlas, that solar energy can be used sufficiently, that geothermal resources are sufficient to be used in energy production, and that they are suitable in terms of waves, currents and rivers make our school a good choice for the program.

Competencies

Within the plans prepared within the jurisdiction according to the type of alternative energy source to be applied; He can work in the fields of fuel cells, renewable energy sources, energy saving, industrial drying, freezing systems and heating. It can contribute to determining the country's alternative energy strategy and policies. It can take part in the identification, production, operation, distribution and consumption of alternative energy sources. May conduct tests and experiments to develop and audit systems. Our students who graduate from this program receive the title of "Technician".

Job oppurtunities

Students who will graduate from the program can initially find employment opportunities within the EIE Administration working on the subject. It is anticipated that there will be a great employment opportunity in the near future as a result of developments in energy policy on the subject. Since there is no program opened on this subject, it is thought that developments will form the basis for the subject.

Vertical transmission

With the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), vertical transfer can be made to Electrical Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering and Physics undergraduate programs, within the quota.
